Guildhall
From ancient to modern

Guildhall has been used as a town hall for several hundred years, and is still the ceremonial and administrative centre of the City of London and its Corporation. The term Guildhall refers both to the whole building and to its main room, which is a medieval great hall. The building dates to 1411 with changes made to the front in 1789 although the entrance remains the original from medieval times. The roof was replaced after being destroyed in World War II. During the roman period an amphitheatre was here, whose partial remains can be seen in the basement of the Art Gallery. Wikipedia/CTGuides
